2017-05-02 06:01

A 23-year-old man is lucky to be alive after being caught in a rain of bullets.

Steenberg police responded to a shooting in St Anthony Street, Lavender Hill at 07:05 last Tuesday.

Steenberg police spokesperson Warrant Officer John Bartlett says: “On their arrival they found that the victim was transported to Retreat day hospital by a private car. The victim alleges that he was walking in St Anthony Street when a white vehicle drove past him and fired six to seven gunshots at him. He sustained a gunshot wound on his right shoulder which exited out the front.”

Bartlett says the motive for the shooting is allegedly gang-related as the victim reported that the gun men are affiliated with the Junky Funky Kids.

“No arrests have been as yet,” says Bartlett.
