The Blaqpearl Foundation hosted a graduation for the participants of the Sisters With Attitude on Friday 22 February at the Alliance Francaise building where they are based.

The Sisters With Attitude project is aimed at transferring life skills to young women and men through the arts using mediums such as dance, music, creative writing and theatre.

A total of 33 participants successfully completed the training.

The programme focusses on empowering the participants to find their voices and leave feeling they are part of the community, knowing who they are and making positive contributions as responsible citizens, says Janine Overmeyer, known as Blaqpearl.

She further says the project aims at inspiring youth.

She also thanked MEC for Social Development, Albert Fritz for the funding they received from the department. Fritz was also the special guest at the event.

The event featured an hour of performance by the various groups.

V The foundation will host a concert presented by Arts Arise and Sisters With Attitude on Saturday 2 March at 11:00. Tickets cost R50, children under 10 enter free. It will be held at the Alliance Francaise and will feature music, exhibitions, food and a film screening.
