On Tuesday 28 June, 60 youth from Mitchell’s Plain celebrated Youth Month by attending the annual Decision Affects Destinies (Dad) youth mentor camp. The camp was funded by ward 78’s budget and facilitated by the City’s Social Development and Early Childhood Development and Nature Conservation departments. In addition partnerships with Cape Town Counselling Centre, Nursing Works, Abbotts College and Children In Action (CIA) were also secured. The camp focussed on three pillars, namely self, family and community. The underpinned daily themes were attitude, boldness, confidence and decision making. Under the family pillar, parents were invited to visit the camp and participate in a cook-off with their child.
