The kidnapped owner of the Zhauns group in Woodstock, Zhauns Amhed, has been reunited with his family. He had been missing for two months since 25 July.

Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Traut says the 71-year-old businessman was found safely on Friday.

The kidnapping case is still being investigated.

“This office can confirm that the victim has been reunited with his family. The circumstances surrounding the case are still under investigation,” he says.

Amhed was allegedly abducted by three unknown men outside his business premises in Victoria Road, Woodstock.

At the time of the abduction, Amhed was reported to had been busy in his car with his driver when a double-cab bakkie pulled up behind them.

The men in the bakkie reportedly threatened him with a firearm, forced him into the bakkie and drove off in the direction of Victoria Road. Police said the bakkie was later found abandoned in the same road.

A family member confirms that Amhed has been found but says he is in no position to divulge information. He says the family is dealing with the matter privately.
