Zonewatch leaves Salt River

2018-10-16 06:02

A new public safety service provider is set to take over in Salt River starting next month on an interim arrangement.

This after Zonewatch Security decided to end its contract as of Wednesday 31 October.

The Salt River Business Improvement District announced this development last week.

“Our current contractual arrangement with Zonewatch Security as the public safety service provider has come to an end and Zonewatch Security has notified us that they will be ending their public safety service as of Wednesday 31 October,” the improvement district says in a statement.

According to the statement, the improvement district’s board and Geocentric, as the management company, have worked closely with Zonewatch and the City of Cape Town to ensure a smooth transition to a new public safety service provider from Thursday 1 November. “Under the strict guidance and scrutiny of the City, the board is in the process of appointing a new interim public safety service provider who will undertake operations from Thursday 1 November until the end of the financial year.”

The improvement district will issue a full public Request for Proposal process early next year to evaluate and appoint a service provider for a longer term contract from July. “We are aware that many businesses have, in addition to the work done by Zonewatch Security as public safety service provider, contracted Zonewatch Security for their respective alarm monitoring and armed response services,” the statement reads.

According to the improvement district, Zonewatch has given a written undertaking to still service their monitoring and armed response customer base with dedicated armed response vehicles and also provide a backup service when needed.

“The Salt River Business Improvement District would like to thank Zonewatch Security for their service to the area since the inception of the SRBID. We will announce more details on the new interim public safety service provider and share any other operational changes that may be required in due course.”

V Any further questions or queries may be directed to Geocentric as the management company at info@geocentric.co.za For any further questions regarding monitoring and armed response, call Zonewatch directly on 086 15 15 800.
