Aiming for government jobs

2015-07-23 06:00

MANY South Africans, after considering their personal circumstances, reluctantly go to government hospitals as they are unable to afford the standards provided by the private sector.

Even government schools, with recurring unfavourable results, are deemed unworthy by many citizens. Visiting government departments like the Department of Home Affairs is not looked forward to as individuals contemplate the inevitable long wait in queues that snake through gullies in the precinct.

Government transport networks and vehicles are also used reluctantly.

The general vibe regarding government amenities is one of reluctance and no confidence.

It is only when one has the potential to attain a government job that one sees the individual brimming with confidence and enthusiasm!

If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought it had something to do with a good pay packet and, considering the reputation that precedes it, less work or apathy at government offices.
