FORMER Banyana Banyana captain Amanda Dlamini was impressed with the talent of pupils on the sports field in Gcilima on Thursday.

Dlamini visited the area as part of the Jockey-sponsored Let’s Play Schools Skills Challenge which, after an eight-week run, saw 8 000 pupils from 12 schools participating.

Gcilima Primary and Delihlazo Primary competed for top honours in the final phase of the challenge with Gcilima walking away the top prize.

Dlamini said it has always been her dream to promote sport among school children, which she is doing through her Amanda Dlamini Foundation.

“I am extremely excited to be part of this initiative, and am even more excited that it has proved to be so successful.

“I look forward to introducing this programme to many more schools in the province,” said Dlamini.

She said it pleases her when she sees children playing and having fun.

“By doing this they forget about their hardships and backgrounds and enjoy being children.”
