Biking and trail event coming up

2015-04-30 14:53

A SERIES of MTB and trail run races along the lower South Coast will take place between July to October

The organisers’ vision is to create a mountain biking and trail running series that puts enthusiasts under one banner in order to maintain a quality of standards.

“The events are also being held to showcase the South Coast with our beautiful scenery, accommodation venues and sport and adventure activities for every sportsperson and tourist,” said Mark Thornton-Smith of OneWay Productions.

“Our mission is to provide support and consistency to the events in the series and attract more sponsors, bigger prizes and more participants,” he said.

The objective is to establish a consistent 500 to 1 000 entries to each MTB and trail run event.

A points system will apply where pro cyclists are eligible to win large amounts of prize money.

Also involved in the event is Andrew Ramos of Bundubashers MTB Club.

“We are looking for a big title sponsor for the series. On the North Coast, they have the “Bell” Big 5 series. We are looking for a major insurance company, bank, holiday business or leading retailer to back the idea,” said Ramos.
