ZOOMS has embarked on a serial “unique” mission to raise awareness of the fundamental SMME sector. Various studies in the world have demonstrated that small businesses are essential for the development of economies.

“Our campaign, which aims to raise the support for small businesses, has been going on for some time and there are still more to be done until we feel that the message has been delivered well. We are not asking citizens to boycott big businesses but we want them to consider small businesses whenever they have the buying power. Even one customer to a small business makes a huge difference and we believe that small businesses will deliver an excellent service when given a chance,” said Sifundo Zuma of Zooms.

Zuma urged the community to bear in mind that SMMEs play a crucial role in the economy of Africa, including South Africa.

“In other studies there were estimations that this sector, excluding government, provided more than 90% of the workforce of the African continent and contributed significantly to the global development plan of its economy.”

He said this sector is the heart that pumps the economic blood to the vital organs of the Africa’s economy.

Zuma said as Zooms they want to make small businesses famous and make it cool to be a hard working entrepreneur so many people would consider it, not as an escape goat due to being unemployable, but as method of feeding our great continent and making poverty history.

“We started with these campaigns at the intersection of Beach Road and Marine Drive, at Shelly Beach, which was a huge success with great support and feedback from the locals. We will be moving to another spot since we have achieved what we had wanted at the first location. Check the video on our Gamalakhe online YouTube channel. So just like it was mentioned in the 2015 State of the Nation Address that big business is big business, this is our way of making South Africa great,” he said.
