Child raped for over a year

2015-09-17 06:00

AFTER being raped repeatedly by two people on different occasions for over a year, a 10-year-old girl’s nightmare has finally come to an end.

The girl, who lived with her grandmother, father and uncle in Braemer location, near Port Edward, had been raped since January 2014.

The men, aged 22 and 15, who allegedly raped her, have appeared in court.

The 22-year-old is still in custody while the other, being a juvenile, was released into the care of his guardian.

Police spokesperson, captain Gerald Mfeka, said the grandmother took the child to the clinic after she had fallen ill.

Nurses at the clinic then discovered there was something else wrong with the child and sent her to hospital for an examination where it was discovered she had been raped.

The girl then told police of the incidents that had been happening for over a year.

“Police arrested both suspects ... they appeared in court and the case was postponed to 21 September,” said Mfeka.

He said the child’s mother worked in another area and only sometimes visited home
