Clean up after fishing

2015-06-25 06:00

I COULD not help but notice that Sandspit was abuzz with fishermen recently.

It was great to see people enjoying the beach and hear them brag about their big catches.

However, what disappoints me is the mess these fishermen left behind.

The beach was strewn with bait, tackle, cans, packets and other junk. As someone who frequents the beach, this is the last thing I want to see.

Pet owners also take their dogs for walks on the beach and this is a hazard as well.

The beach belongs to everyone so it’s everyone’s responsibility to keep it neat and tidy.

Don’t wait for the beach cleaners to pick up after you.
