HIBISCUS Coast Municipality (HCM) announced it has improved its performance by reaching 83% mark of its service delivery and budget target. This was announced in a council meeting in council chambers on Tuesday.

The municipality praised its performance for the financial year 2014/15 through rigorous reporting mechanisms implemented.

HCM mayor Nomusa Mqwebu said the achievement showed an improvement from the 72% achieved last year and the municipality is of the view that this highlights positive strides taken by the political and administrative leadership in ensuring that a culture of improved service delivery and reporting thereof is promoted.

Council is also of the view that the reporting systems within the departments, portfolio committees and also at SDBIP level, is improving ensuring that the municipality and the public is given credible information regarding the work that is being done by the municipality.

The mayor said the overall performance indicates that the municipality has achieved 328 out of 395 targets, but there is still room for improvement.

“This is a positive indication - the municipality is on the right track to be a thriving, well-managed, tourist-friendly, national leader providing its inhabitants with quality services in a safe and healthy environment,” she said.

Mqwebu said the municipality can confirm this encouraging performance shows that one of its set target of obtaining clean audit for the past financial year is within reach.
