DICK King Square toilets, above the Shoprite and meter-taxi parking bays, opposite the traffic department, are in a state of filth and drugs.

The toilets are apparently used by whoonga smokers.

Hibiscus Coast Municipality municipal manager Max Mbili said the municipality is in the process of fixing toilet facilities in Port Shepstone, including those at the taxi rank.

Mbili said the executive committee resolved with leadership to renovate toilets and hand them over to informal traders for them to manage.

“After renovations the informal traders will be responsible for the toilets as they are always at the rank.

“With regards to Dick King toilets, we will propose to informal traders that they manage those toilets as well however, if that does not work we will assign staff to clean the toilets and ensure that no whoonga people have access to them,” he said
