Archibald said Pillay promised that normal operations of the school would continue and the DOE’s modus operandi would be to relocate the school to mobile ones which will be set up on the school fields so that teaching and learning is not disrupted.

“Mr Pillay said the exact time-frames would be confirmed with the school principal and the SGB.

“The duration of the project is said to be 18 months,” said Archibald.

She said she was pleased the DOE had addressed the resolutions the SGB had forwarded to the department in May.

School principal Audrey Ryan was also thankful that the issue of the building of the school had finally been addressed by the DOE and that staff can now focus on teaching and learning and matters that contribute to the well-being of pupils.

“We thank all parents and stakeholders who have supported the school in our request for a new building.

The SGB also acknowledges ward councillor Ajith Rajaram for always making himself available, and Selvan Chetty, who visited the school recently.

“Mr Chetty stated that he was tasked by the ANC to investigate the problems at the school and lent his support in carrying our plight forward,” said Archibald
