Farmers attend diesel rebate workshop

2015-08-27 06:00

THE KwaZulu-Natal Agricultural Union (Kwanalu) recently held a diesel rebate workshop in Pietermaritzburg for members in a bid to answer questions and clear up confusion with regard to compliance of the agricultural diesel rebate system.

A number of South Coast farmers attended.

Held at the Royal Show grounds, the meeting was attended by over 230 Kwanalu members. Senior representatives from the SARS Legal and Auditing Departments gave a detailed presentation on how farmers in particular, can legally and effectively claim for rebates on diesel used in specific farming practices.

“It was positive to see so many farmers in attendance, showing their willingness to comply with the somewhat difficult terms and conditions for agricultural diesel rebates,” said Kwanalu CEO, Sandy La Marque.

During the workshop Kwanalu members were invited to give input into the functionality of the diesel rebate system; for example how to record diesel usage in a logbook. Kwanalu also undertook to provide comments on the proposed review of the diesel rebate as mooted in Parliament recently. - Supplied.
