‘Faulty transformer’ trips resident’s electricity

2015-07-23 06:01

ABHOBHOYI resident, Charmaine Williams, has experienced electricity problems ever since winter began.

She says besides load shedding her power trips every day.

“Ever since winter started I have not had a stable electricity supply. What upsets me is that my neighbour on the one side, who uses the same transformer, has electricity but my neighbour on the other side has the same problem.

Williams contacts Eskom every day and they SMS her a reference number saying that a field technician will be sent out to check.

She said sometimes the technician comes and fixes the problem at the transformer, but an hour later the electricity trips again.

Williams’s greatest concern is that she runs a business from home and the intermittent supply affects it.

Williams went to the Marburg and Shelly Beach Eskom offices, but could not get any assistance from them.

“I went to the Marburg office twice and they told me that I should go to the Hibberdene office, which I found very strange. When I went to the Shelly Beach office I told some ladies there about my situation and they told me they couldn’t do anything to help. One of them even said that if a technician can’t fix the problem, how do I expect them to.”

Williams said its difficult to live without electricity especially if you pay Eskom, then you have to put up with load shedding and the power tripping every day.

The Eskom customer care numbers charge airtime and Williams says if she adds up the time she spends on the phone to customer care, it would come to more than R500.

Williams asks for someone to investigate why transformer MMS40 in Bhobhoyi next to Siphakamile Primary School keeps tripping her electricity
