Get the grime off your stove

2015-04-30 14:54

TRYING to keep your stove looking new may seem impossible, but with a few simple tricks it can be done in minutes, leaving your stove spotless.

In order to clean your glass stove top you will need a sponge, soft cloth, paper towel, dish soap, vinegar, and a paint scraper used for scraping paint off windows.

Cleaning your stove daily

Make sure that the hob is off and has completely cooled down before you begin to clean the exterior.

Use a soapy water mixture on a damp cloth or sponge and wipe down the surface. You may have to repeat this process if required.

Rinse thoroughly with water and use a paper towel or a soft cloth to buff it.

A daily cleaning ensures that a glass hob looks spotless at all times.

Grease and grime buildup

To clean a build-up of grease and grime, apply dish soap to a sponge and wipe down the glass stove top. You may need to repeat the process if it is really grimy.

Rinse the stove top with a clean, damp cloth and use a paper towel to completely dry the surface.

Water stains that might leave a mineral deposit can be removed by using full strength vinegar on a paper towel. You could also buy a special cleaner for removing grease from a glass stovetop.

Most people forget to clean under and around any knobs on the stove. This is where grease builds up over time. These are usually clipped on and can be popped off, but check your instruction manual to be sure.

Rinse the knobs in warm soapy water, wipe them down and leave to dry.

Burned on residue

Any sugary spillovers need to be cleaned immediately. Turn off the stove and remove hot pots.

Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, steel wool, or a brush, as they may scratch the surface of the glass or leave a residue.Paint scrapers that are used for removing paint from glass are ideal for removing burnt-on residue. Scrape in one direct motion at a 45° angle. The scraper can be purchased at a hardware store, just make sure that it is for glass.

Cleaning the seal

To clean the seal around the edges of the glass, lay a wet cloth over the top. Wait for a few minutes, and then wipe it clean. Dry it with a paper towel. – Property24.
