Karate champ earns many medals

TYLER Hogan from Suid-Natal Martial Arts Academy recently competed in the South African Open Karate Championships in Durban and obtained bronze in the kata­ 12 to 13 years’ male division.

He was then selected to represent South Africa in a KSA Development tour to Mozambique, which took place last weekend in Maputo. A total­ of 14 karateka from SA participated in the Mozambique Open Championships against 100 of the best Mozambique athletes.

Tyler took part in the male 12 to 13-year category and obtained gold in the kata division and bronze in the kumite division.

“This was a excellent opportunity for Tyler to gain experience in the international arena and he gained invaluable experience training with the South African coaches and staff,” said Sensei Coenie, from Suid-Natal Martial Arts Academy. - Supplied.
