Land claims lodgement bus to visit HCM

2015-07-30 06:00

The Commission for Land Rights Restitution will be bringing its services closer to the people of Hibiscus Coast from 16 to 18 September.

It must be remembered that President Jacob Zuma signed into law a legislation that brought about the reopening of the process of lodging land claims after the initial deadline of 1998, because some people had missed it.

The new deadline for the submission of land claims is now 30 June, 2019.

Since KwaZulu-Natal has only two offices - Pietermaritzburg and Vryheid - the commission decentralised the service and bought a mobile lodgement bus which will be shared between KZN and the Eastern Cape. This means it can only be stationed at each venue for a limited period.

The bus will be stationed at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre from 16 to 18 September and will operate from 9am to 4pm on these days.

Those who wish to lodge new land claims or who have queries regarding claims that have already been lodged are who wish to lodge new land claims and have queries with encouraged to use the service. - Supplied
