Let us appreciate beauty

2015-10-08 06:00

I LOVE where I live. The South Coast is a picturesque place. I’m always in awe of the ocean, filled with whales and dolphins frolicking in the waves and the various creatures that live in all the vegetation. We have a wonderful man, Mr Day, who stands on the Sheppie bridge in the morning, waving to commuters, giving us a reason to smile. We have friendly people in the shops and for the most part, generally nice people everywhere.

Sure, our salaries are not as large as those in Gauteng but would I want to sit in gridlock every morning to travel 70km to work and then the same trip home again? I did that for many years and there is no sea view to appreciate while you are stuck on the highways and byways, sorry. I honestly don’t think we truly appreciate the beauty of our surroundings as we should. Look around at what you do have and don’t spend all your precious energy on what you don’t have. Sure, you could have a lot more, but you could also have a lot less.
