Lives lost in various accidents

TWO people were injured during an accident on the R61 between Shelly Beach and Uvongo on Saturday afternoon­.

Netcare 911 paramedics and other­ services found that a motor vehicle had left the road and overturned. The vehicle came to a standstill in the grass area next to the road, on its wheels.

Upon assessment of the occupants, paramedics found that one person sustained serious injuries while a second occupant sustained minor to moderate injuries.

Both patients were treated at the scene and transported to hospital.

In another incident, two people died and 32 were injured after a taxi slammed into a bakkie on the N2 north after Hibberdene on afternoon.

Reports indicate that the bakkie was stationary in the breakdown lane when the taxi rear-ended it.

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services found the road obstructed with accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles. After medics treated the injured at the scene, they transported them to various hospitals.

In Izotsha, four people were injured, two seriously, after a vehicle left the road and veered into the veld along Izotsha Road on Monday at around 7am. Netcare 911 paramedics found that the vehicle had smashed into a wall.

After triaging the injured, it was found that two children, aged eight and nine, and two adults, were injured in the accident. After medics treated the injured they transported them to hospital. - Supplied
