LESLEY Pillay (19), from Marburg is excited about his career as an aspiring actor.

Pillay said he has always felt that acting is where is career and future is destined. Pillay has been selected as an extra for a German movie - Gemma - that will be shot on the South Coast.

“Since high school I have wanted to be an actor. I have been trying for more than five years now.”

Pillay said he has tried everything, including writing plays and movies from a young age however, unsuccessfully.

“I first wrote a story called Popstar which was about a young singer in disguise who tried to live a normal life, but that was successful. I then wrote a documentary called Discovering KZN, which I got the chance of filming in Durban, but on the last day my video guy did not pitch up which also resulted in failure.”

Pillay said when he heard about casting for Gemma he decided to take a chance.

Filming for the movie begins next month.

“I am so happy I was able to act in a movie even if it is as an extra.”

He is planning to pursue his acting and modelling career and his next goal is to find acts in Durban movies.

“I feel that my late granny has given me luck because ever since she died things have been going well for me. Hopefully I can also start a modelling career as I am also passionate about modelling.”
