THERE is a new mountain bike race on the South Coast that offers fantastic prize money as well as a scenic route along the border of KZN and the Eastern Cape, the Wild Coast Sun MTB Challenge on 31 October.

Participants and their families can afterwards cool off at the Wild Waves Waterpark at the Wild Coast Sun. For the professionals, R23 000 in prize money is up for grabs, while amateurs stand a chance of winning spot prizes including hampers, hotel vouchers, spa treatments and bicycle accessories in the lucky draw.

The 40km Classic and 20km Intermediate includes mostly raw and wild terrain with typical lush vegetation. There are extensive single track, ascents and descents, breathtaking views, portages, switchbacks, river crossings and a new suspension bridge. The 10km fun ride is geared for the younger riders with wider roads along parts of the golf cart track for the acclaimed Wild Coast Sun Golf Course.

You will also gain free entrance to the Wild Coast Sun and 50% off the entry fee for all participants into the Wild Waves Waterpark (normally R150). The first 200 pre-entries will each receive a goodie bag with a bike “buff” headwear, water bottle and a voucher booklet to redeem at most various local attractions and activities including a coffee farm, tenpin bowling, take-away and accommodation venues.

To register online, go to www.roag.co.za/eventinfoPre-entries are R120 for the 40km, R80 for the 20km and R20 for the 10km. Registration on the day from 6.30am to 7.30am.
