MARGATE Middle School’s matric pupils held a prayer day at the school on Friday in preparation of their finals exams.

Representatives from local churches assisted the pupils with prayers and hymn singing.

The school formed a Student’s Christian Organisation last year where pupils hold prayer meetings during break every day.

The purpose of the event was to wish matrics well during the exams, to close for the year and to bid the pupils farewell.

Deputy principal, Kay Naidoo, said that since the formation of the organisation pupils behaviour has improved dramatically.

“We found that each one needed to be motivated religiously. This has helped tremendously with discipline,” she said.

During break time, pupils from other grades joined the programme.
