Merlewood SGB stops protest action

2015-06-18 06:00

MERLWOOD Primary school governing body has decided not to go ahead with protest action against the Department of Education pending the response on the building of a new school.

SGB chair Mirelle Archibald said they have not received any response as to when the department will start with the construction.

“We received a response from the department in an email saying the matter is being addressed by both the Department of Public Works and the Department of Education.”

The SGB’s concerns are that the pupils are not disturbed during examinations.

“However, the governing body has decided not to take any action since the school is busy with exams,” she said.

The Department of Education was given a time frame of five days to respond to the school with the date when construction will take place but they still giving them a run around on the exact date.

The school has urged parents to keep calm and allow the pupils to write examinations peacefully
