WHAT started as a park and a crafters market now also lends itself to movie nights.

Hlanganani Park, at the old Uvongo Bird Park, has started showing movies over the weekends, although it’s not a drive-in, just a whole lot of fun.

“You can bring a picnic basket, chairs, blankets and the like and watch a good movie while enjoying nature,” said director of the park, Michelle Heyneke.

Friday nights are best for family outings while Saturday nights are suitable for romantic date nights.

There is also safe parking.

“We have many more plans in the pipeline to upgrade the park,” she added.

These include extra crafters stalls, concerts and a hiking and biking trail.

“We are very excited and appreciate the support we’ve been getting from the community,” said Heyneke.

There are also plans for poetry reading and story-telling sessions.

“The craft market is open every Saturday and there are some unique trinkets available,” she said
