Municipality applauded for award

SOUTH African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) works as co-information centre and ensures that people get services as promised by the government.

Sanco secretary, Magatsheni Msomi, said they congratulate Hibiscus Coast Municipality for earning the housing projects award it received at the Govan Mbeki Awards in Cape Town.

“When driving around HCM you see the houses they have built for the people. There are houses in Nyandezulu, Mkholombe, Oshabeni, Lousiana and other areas, which proves there is service delivery to the people,” said Msomi.

He also noted the Masinenge housing project was tricky.

“It makes us happy that the municipality continued with the Masinenge project as many people were against it. There were parties that did not approve of the project saying it would affect nature because the area has many species of butterflies. We are happy to see that the project is almost complete.

“As Sanco we are aware that not all the people who need houses have received one, but we are hopeful and assured that every citizen needing a house will get one,” said Msomi.

The organisation appreciated the work done by the municipality and stakeholders.

“We are pleased to see that the municipality and everyone involved in service delivery is doing their job. We see roads being completed and taxi ranks and skills centres are being opened. As Sanco we are satisfied.”

Msomi said they give special recognition to the mayor, Cllr Nomusa Mqwebu, municipal manager Max Mbili and councillors for their outstanding work
