Obituary: Murhoom Moulana Ali

2015-10-22 06:00

THE death in our midst of Murhoom Moulana Ali (Rahimullah) has left the Muslim community of Port Shepstone and district with a void that will be felt for a long time to come. On Thursday morning this man of the cloth was called to rest by Allah.

Moulana was 80 years old and his verve and extreme love for following the Sunnah of our beloved Nabi (saw) endeared him to both the young and old. In many of his discourses he related at great length that Allah and Allah alone should we pray to and no partners be ascribed to our Creator and our Prophet Mohammed was a messenger of truth.

This Trojan of Islam had a sublime character and his humility, humbleness and above all his love for his fellow men shone like a beacon. An irreplaceable man who will not only be missed in the confines of the Musjid where he sat day after day reading the scriptures in earnest, but the community who will do well to follow the exemplary manner Moulana displayed. He leaves behind a pious family of sons, daughters and grandchildren.

I feel it was an absolute a privilege to have known him and derive great knowledge and wisdom an association that will be nurtured. He died peacefully in the exact manner on how he lived. His final moments were to utter the very words that the Prophet said: “Oh Allah, I am coming to you as your guest, honour me with your presence.”

Moulana then turned towards his right side and recited the Shahaadah and left this world into the realm of the hereafter.

Moulana will long be remembered as a legacy of his knowledge he imparted. Rest well and Allah be with you.
