Pink Couch supports cancer awareness campaign

2015-10-15 06:00

AS part of this month being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tessa Green will be hosting the “Pink Couch” talk with Cansa and South Coast Hospice.

“Tessa and Friends on the Pink Couch” is powered by the WoW Factor Institute.

“The event takes the form of an Oprah Winfrey show kind of feel,” said Green.

Green said she will be giving a platform to the organisation for them to tell stories associated with cancer and create awareness on breast cancer.

“I will interview people with real-life stories and charities associated with the stories,” said Green.

Green said she will have two organisations “on the couch” this month.

“I am having Hospice and the Cansa Association on the couch because very often we just pop a few coins in a tin, to ease our conscious, but we never really know what the organisations are about, what their needs are and how we can assist, not only with money, but with service and goods.”

Green is also assisting Cansa in the Pink Tree Drive which is close to one of the survivor guests she will be having on the Pink Couch.

Green asked those who will be attending the event to bring sanitary packs for Hospice as it will go into communities and encourage women to get screened, as well as hand out sanitary packs.

“Those who attend are asked to bring a sanitary pack and extra money to buy pink material in support of these great organisations,” she said.

“Tessa and Friends on the Pink Couch is me sitting with friends in front of an audience who will learn, grow, be inspired and hopefully open their hearts and wallets in support of the organisations.”

Tickets for the Pink Couch are R30 and can be bought at Maggie of Palm Manor and Marika from Marika Bridal Lounge
