Police investigate murder inquest

HIBBEREDENE police are investigating an inquest after the body of Vukile Shozi, the Umzumbe Municipality community services manager, was found.

On 1 September police were called to KwaQoloQolo Ward in Mtwalume where they found the body of the 40-year-old man.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Zandra Wiid confirmed that the police responded to the incident at 11.30pm.

It is alleged that he was found hanging from rope tied to the roof of the house and family members took him down and placed him on the floor where the police found the body.

Shozi’s body was taken to the Port Shepstone state mortuary where a post-mortem will be conducted.

Umzumbe Municipal spokesperson Trevor Khanyile said the municipality has lost a committed and selfless employee.

“He was always calm and highly focused in the work he did. The community of Umzumbe Municipality was in safe hands with Vukile around as manager.”

Khanyile said they cannot comment about the way he died.

“We do not want to go into the details surrounding the manner in which he died however, we wish that the Shozi family finds peace during this trying time,” said Khanyile
