ST Mary’s DSG boarders enjoy a close-knit sense of family within a structured “home” environment which includes rules, chores and much laughter.

Girls are encouraged to personalise their bedroom with bright bedding, photos and mementos from home.

They experience a feeling of belonging from the beginning and are part of small tutor groups which meet regularly to help them settle quickly and happily into the routine of high school.

Weekly activities are planned for those girls who stay in during the weekend. These include shopping at the mall, going to the beach and ice skating.

The senior girls may also attend gym at Virgin Active, under the supervision of the head of boarding.

St Mary’s DSG’s new 24-bed house was officially opened by board members and dignitaries on 7 August. Girls, staff and parents enjoyed the opening ceremony and tours of the new facility.

The beautiful boarding establishment is home to Grade 11 girls, with two girls sharing per dormitory.

This has created more space in boarding generally and particularly for new pupils interested in applying for Grade 10 boarding in 2016.

Phone the school now to view the premises and meet the principal, Jonathan Manley. Contact Lisa at 031 764 9855 or e-mail labbott to set up a tour.
