ZAMOKUHLE Taxi Association members have been living on the edge with the recent taxi murders. In September association members were attacked more than three times resulting in lost lives.
The association said the situation has calmed since last week after 11 suspects were arrested for the shootings in Durban.
Zamokuhle spokesperson said they feel safer since the man, suspected to be behind the killings, has been arrested.
“We feel safer now because the main man behind these shooting has been caught. We hope that we will work peacefully from now on,” he said.
Recently MEC of Community Safety and Liaison Willies Mchunu, also MEC of transport, released a statement that said a tactical response team has been assigned to curb and find the suspects involved in the murders.
Zamokuhle spokesperson said they are grateful that the MEC is looking out for them, but still wants to withhold his name because “one never knows who is connected to whom in this industry”
