THREE men were arrested for robbery on Friday in Port Shepstone after they allegedly threatened a group of people in Princess Elizabeth Drive with a knife.

“The complainant and his friends were sitting in Princess Elizabeth drive when they were approached by three unknown men who threatened them with a knife,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

“They demanded cash and cellphones and then ran towards the CBD,” she said.

The complainant gave chase and managed to apprehend one of the suspects.

Just then Captain Petros Mpinge, station commander of Gamalakhe SAPS, was driving by and saw the commotion.

“He arrested the suspect and then went in search of the two remaining suspects with the complainant in the CBD,” said Wiid.

Shortly afterwards he managed to arrest the two other suspects and took them to the Port Shepstone police station where they were detained and charged.

The cash and cellphones were recovered.
