Time to seek help from a higher power

2015-09-17 06:00

SO Isis couldn’t resist the temptation. They have blown up an ancient temple at Palmyra. Sad, the broken stone after these fanatical wreckers’ actions in the name of misinterpreted religion. Dust to dust, it reminds me of the devastating fires raging in California and Washington and Oregon in the United States. Here there is death to millions of trees, hundreds of plant and insect species, to small animals and birds, to buck, bears and brave firefighters and countless homes. Dust to ashes.

On another front, relative order in South Africa undermined by inept governance, thousands of refugee migrants threatening the same to all of Europe, El Niño causing overheating in the northern hemisphere, droughts and flooding, and fuelling a record number of typhoons in the Pacific. On top of that, world economies shaky after the protracted faltering of China’s economy. Crime in every form, greed and unacceptable behaviour the only succeeding aspects of human endeavour. Chaos. All this happening in the very minutes as I write. Insecurity surrounding everything in life.

Surely it is now time for man to seek God, recognise him, apologise to him, and thereafter take refuge in him? After all, what have we to lose, besides our sanity, our safety and even our lives?
