DIE inwoners van Anerley Haven-tehuis het onlangs ’n welkome skenking van Solidariteit Helpende Hand se Port Shepstone-tak ontvang. Met die winter om die draai begin veral bejaardes nou reeds die koue aan hul lywe voel, maar danksy die skenking van kniekombersies en serpe sal bejaardes by dié kusdorp se tehuis ’n veel warmer winter tegemoet gaan.

Volgens Wynand Smith, takvoorsitter van dié plaaslike Helpende Hand-tak, is die skenking van 15 gebreide kniekombersies en 20 serpe onlangs deur ’n weldoener aan die tak gemaak met die opdrag dat dit aan ’n ouetehuis geskenk moet word. Die tak kon aan die weldoener se wens voldoen en het Anerley Haven, met sy nagenoeg 120 inwoners vir hierdie doel identifiseer. “Dit is wonderlik om te sien hoe die inwoners van Anerley Haven die skenking waardeer en ons weet dat dit ’n werklik ’n meningsvolle verskil in hulle lewens gaan maak,” verduidelik Smith.

Solidariteit Helpende Hand is ’n nasionale organisasie sonder winsbejag en fokus op die voorkoming, verbreking en verligting van armoede. Die organisasie het meer as 120 takke landwyd wat deur vrywilligers bestuur word.
