PASTOR Vasin Gounden of Radiant Life Ministries in Palmview (58) died of a heart attack on Saturday.
Upon hearing of his death, tributes and messages poured in on social media, each one telling their story of how Pastor Gounden had touched their lives.
He started Radiant Life Ministries in July 2002 at Port Shepstone Secondary School, where he also schooled in his early days.
At the church’s 10-year celebration he explained that his call to ministry started at the age of six when he attended a children’s meeting at Wayside Children’s Bible Club.
Even then he knew that he wanted to be a missionary he said.
“Who thought God would take me seriously,” he said.
In 1977, he met his Rangie and they married, made Albersville their home. Later their daughter Joleen and sons Gerald and Dwain were born.
They also have a grandson and two granddaughters.
Pastor Gounded enjoyed sport.
He was musically talented and organised various events locally and in other towns to extend the ministry he was involved in.
He was also instrumental in the ministers fraternity on the South Coast.
He joined a movement that opposed apartheid and worked on various initiatives such as the Shobashobane attack. - Supplied
