MARGATE Cluster SAPS were part of a two-day wellness event on Monday and Tuesday. The event was organised by SAPS medical aid scheme Polmed in conjunction with Clicks, Netcare and Preferred Provider Negotiators with the aim to promote healthy living.

Event co-ordinator and Polmed spokesperson Pinky Hosana said the event is usually organised at provincial level however, this year the scheme began at cluster level in the South Coast before going to the provincial level. “We are scanning our SAPS staff and if they need medication for chronic illnesses we organise that for them. They are then given the opportunity of registering with the scheme. “They get to save a lot through this because they would otherwise pay large sums of money elsewhere for the screening and chronic medication if needed,” said Hosana. Clinical screens provided on the day included BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, dentistry, eye-care and a flu vaccination. Margate SAPS thank the local Coca-Cola, Zotec Services and Sales, Bargain Wholesalers, Bliss andamp; Pamper, Roli Poli, The Biltong Shop and Margate Clicks for sponsoring the event.
