Who needs razor wire when you have chickens?

2015-06-11 06:00

I HAVE just phoned my household security company and cancelled my monthly contract for the intruder alarm and armed response.

Instead, I shall be using that money to build and/or maintain my swimming pool, chicken coop, cattle kraal and audio-visual auditorium.

If these things keep President Jacob Zuma safe, why should I need razor wire and armed-response services to keep me safe?

Besides, not only will the chickens and cattle guard my property, they can become a welcome meal, should there be no electricity and we need to have a braai.

My neighbours can see the sense in this approach and so we may merge our properties so that we can sustain a greater number of cattle and chickens. After all, there is safety in numbers.

We are thinking of naming it Whitewash Farm.
