Woman robbed while hanging up laundry

A 25-YEAR-OLD woman was robbed in her Southport home on Thursday at about 9.30pm.

The incident took place in Goodlands Road when the woman was hanging her washing on the line.

She had apparently left the door and gate open.

“As she was in the kitchen, three men entered. She described them as tall with clean-shaven heads,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

The men then threatened the woman with a knife and told her to sit on the bed in the room.

They ransacked the house and took household items. They then took her to the bathroom and told her to wait for two hours, and then left.

“Residents should always be aware that they could be watched by criminals. Do not go out alone in the dark and lock doors and safety gates,” said Wiid.

“If possible, get watch dogs to protect your property and yourself. Watch dogs can warn you when there is a threat.”
