A28-YEAR-OLD mother was killed in an accident in Shelly Beach during the early hours of Saturday.

Jacky Korsten died at the scene. Her boyfriend, Morten Delport is in serious condition in hospital.

Both were in the same vehicle when the accident occurred.

The passenger travelling in the other vehicle was also injured.

Korsten’s brother, Barry, described her a bubbly, friendly person who always had a smile on her face.

She lived in Shelly Beach and was a manageress of a suprette in Margate.

“Everyone loved her and we’re going to miss her so much,” he said.

Korsten has a six-year-old son, Blaze and is survived by him, her brothers Barry, Chris and Oliver, parents Ade and Rose Korsten and grandmother, Emily Huttingh.

Her memorial service will take place at the Shelly Beach Full Gospel Church in Prince Street on Friday at 11am. When Netcare 911 paramedics, Kwazulu Private Ambulance and KZN EMS responded to the scene, they found that two vehicles were involved in a side-impact crash.

“Upon assessment of the vehicle occupants, paramedics found that a woman lost her life during the crash, while a man was found in critical condition,” Netcare spokesperson Santi Steinmann said.

The injured man was treated at the scene and transported to hospital.

“The two patients were trapped in the one vehicle. After the collision one of the vehicles burst into flames.

The fire department put out the flames and with teamwork from various services the driver was extricated using the jaws of life,” said Belinda Catchpole of Kwazulu Private Ambulance.

Port Shepstone SAPS is still investigating the cause of the accident.
