Afrocentric Library for KwaNzimakwe

2015-12-24 06:00

AFRICAN Youth Development Organisation (Aydo) and NND Books from Durban have committed to establish an Afrocentric Library in the KwaNzimakwe area in honour of the late Wandile Mkhize.

Nkosi Mkize from the organisation said the aim is to pilot a programme where knowledge is made available for rural communities.

“The main sponsor of the programme has committed to giving 100 books to the library and has challenged the community to donate at least one book.”

Mkhize said the books have to be authored by an African, be a tribute to an African and be about Africa or African heroes.

“All genre’s will be accepted including African fiction, African animals, travel, African history, or African short stories and biographies.”

Books can be couriered to the sponsor, ZSG Masuku at Bonakude Consulting, 8th floor, 135 Musgrave Road, Durban, 4001.

“We urge communities to take the time to look in their garage or store room or wherever they keep their old books and be part of this good initiative,” said Mkhize.
