Alleged muthi killers to apply for bail

2015-11-26 06:00

THE three accused for the Gandhinagar Township beheadings, abandoned their bail application at Umzinto Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Elias Sihle Mchunu, alias “Maak n’ Plan”, Thandowakhe Thando Duma and Mveliso Eric Ngini will appear in court again on 25 November for a joint bail application.

The body of 21-year-old Nawaaz Khan was found at the beginning of November after Duma, Khan’s friend, revealed to police the events leading to the man’s murder.

Khan, who went missing on 31 October, was last seen with Duma.

The accused told police he was experiencing some problems in his personal life and that a witch doctor had asked him to bring him a human’s head in order to make his problems disappear.

Khan was attacked with a bush knife and beheaded in a forest. Police found his body in the forest, but his head was not found

Duma made a confession about this in court earlier this month.

The information led police to the arrest of Mchunu, who is the witch doctor.

A week later a woman was found beheaded in the Umzinto area. She was identified as Albertina Gambushe (39) of Amandawe, a domestic worker also from the Gandhinagar Township.

Her head and crushed bones were found in a plastic bag.

Mveliso Eric Ngini (36) of Malangeni has appeared in the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court for her murder.

“Thandowakhe Thando Duma and Mveliso Eric Ngini appeared in the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court for their bail application in the murder case of Albertina Gambushe. The matter was remanded until Wednesday, 25 November for Elias Sihle Mchunu to join them in their bid for bail,” said police spokesperson Captain Vincent Pandarum.
