ANC NEC reports back to region on Jacob Zuma

ANC National Executive Council (NEC) member Tandi Mahambehlala held a report-back meeting for the Lower South Coast region at the Uvongo Town hall on Sunday.

In her presentation, Mahambehlala reported back on what she said was the NEC’s “robust debate” regarding the removal of Jacob Zuma as president of the country.

Following the meeting, the party’s regional spokesperson Selvan Chetty said it could be deduced from Mahambehlala’s presentation that the decision to remove Zuma was not an easy one.

He said some branch members raised concerns regarding the processes involved in the recall, to which Mahambelala responded that the NEC’s decision on the matter is final and that all members “need to focus on uniting the movement behind the new leadership”.

“She [Mahambehlala] urged members to work towards strengthening the party and ensuring a decisive victory going forward into 2019.

“She cautioned those few members who tried to be disruptive that it wasn’t helpful to the ANC for its members to engage in activities that will see us further divided,” said Chetty.

ANC Lower Coast Region secretary Mzwandile Mkwanazi said the ANC expresses its thanks and appreciation to Zuma for his decades of service to SA and its people.
