THE African National Congress (ANC) at Umdoni Municipality has added another voice with the swearing in of Councillor Mbali Cele on Wednesday, September 26. Cele was sworn in during the council meeting at the municipality’s council chambers. This follows the death of Executive Council (Exco) member Zwelakhe Cele who passed away last year after an illness.

There was singing and praises from the ANC benches as they welcomed the new Councillor.

Speaking for the first time as councillor, Cele said that she is very much aware of her duties ahead.

“As a Councillor, I will be at the forefront to assist our people to ensure that they see development. We are not Councillors for ourselves but for the communities that elected us to serve them,” she said

Municipal mayor Thabani Dube wished Cele well in her new responsibilities and urged her to acquaint herself with all the rules and regulations of local government.
