A SUNWICH Port resident has complained several times to the Hibiscus Coast Municipality about a tree that is causing damage to the wall around her property.

Margie Strydom said the dead branches of the tree have also damaged car port and the roof of her car.

“The branches fell onto my car and car port on separate occasions. I’ve notified the municipality, but nothing has been done about it.”

Strydom has reference numbers and has been “fighting” with the municipality for over a year she says.

“Why should I claim from my insurance for something that it not my fault? The municipality must take responsibility,” she said.

The Hibiscus Coast Municipality contacted the Fever asking for her details, but did not comment on the matter.

Last week, the Fever published a similar story where an Umtentweni resident has notified HCM for months about the tree that was destroying the boundary wall on his property.

Municipal spokesperson, Simon April, responded to the query saying that the municipality had a customer care service where ratepayers or community members are to submit their complaints. Reference numbers and progress updates are then given.

The contact details are 039 688 2027, email or SMS 32061.
