MZABALAZZO Entertainment Group is inviting all aspiring comedians to attend comedy auditions at the Margate Hotel on Saturday, September 29.

Mzabalazzo Entertainment Group founder Sikho Nqambi said the auditions will be a second for the company, having previously held auditions four years ago.

“We are looking for people who are funny and can do stand up comedy as we are planning to start a comedy club.

“This will enable comedians from the South Coast to have a platform they can use to perform their material.

“We also want to give everyone who thinks they are funny an opportunity to present themselves and show us how funny they are,” said Nqambi.

He said those who show talent and potential will have the opportunity to be signed up by the company and earn some money doing comedy.

“We are looking for comedians of all races, who speak any language. We know that in the South Coast there are English, Afrikaans, Zulu and Xhosa speaking people.

“We also urge those that can speak other languages to come forward as we want to give everyone an opportunity to do stand up comedy,” he said.

Nqambi said the idea was inspired by media personality and business man DJ Sbu, known for his hilarious and infectious breakfast shows, saying: “DJ Sbu is also my mentor and he supports this movement. We want to start this comedy club and open up the industry in the South Coast. We also plan to invite more well-known comedians from across South Africa to be part of our shows going forward. We will also have workshops to mentor and guide these comedians.

“We are also looking for assistance from local business people with sponsorships and we are also open to possible partnerships moving forward because together we can do more,” he said.

The auditions will start at 10am and finish at 3pm on Saturday, September 29 at Margate Hotel. For more information contact 072 333 0694 or send an e-mail to
