Believe it or not

HERE is South Africa’s (not Ripley’s) Believe It Or Not

• A self-confessed cannibal, who raped and killed three women, prior to devouring them, was granted bail.

• A young woman, driving at night, was pursued by police. Her last terrified screams to her mother, on the cell phone, was that the police were firing at her. After the explosion of bullets, silence ensued. Her body was recovered from a vehicle riddled with bullet holes. The police claimed she was driving under the influence of liquor and driving recklessly. No case has been opened against these police members, who are still employed in the police.

• Inspector Patrick Gosling, who received many awards for service, dedication and assistance, providing invaluable contribution to the vehicle theft unit, drug units and other departments, has been jailed for a minimum of 15 years for shooting his knife-wielding assailants.

The public laud him for his compassion, ethical behaviour and his volunteer work – especially to the less fortunate.

In accordance with police law, internationally, a police person removes his or her weapon from the holster in order to shoot to kill, if his or her life is in danger, or if the fleeing suspect poses a potential risk to society.

Which of the three alleged suspects is a danger to society?

Mandela proclaimed that “everyone is entitled to the same rights.” However, judgment is delivered in accordance with one’s relationship with the corrupt government.
