THE second annual South Coast Bike Fest held at Margate main beach left patrons and media houses raving in praises.

Bongani and Maggz from East Coast radio said they were absolutely floored by the event’s success on day one, on April 27.

The ECR Afternoon Drive Show hosts deemed the event “world class” on their show, which was broadcast from the venue on Friday.

Patrons who attended from all over the country echoed these sentiments.

Pinky Phaswana from Kempton Park in Johannesburg said it was her first time at the event and she was blown away. “I actually only tried out biking two weeks ago and I am absolutely loving it. I feel at home on the fast lane and cannot get enough. The festival really is more fun than I expected,” said Phaswana.

While the numbers are not yet out for this year, last year’s festival welcomed a total of 60 000 visitors.

The Mayoral Mass Charity Parade was unfortunately cancelled due to inclement weather, however, festivities continued with myriad activities on show including pop-up stalls and food markets, a basketball and break dance stunt show from Bounce Vibe Tribe, a bike workshop and music concerts on various stages. Artists that performed included Sketchy Bongo, DJ Fresh, DJ Bruce, Back Bone, Black Water Band and many more.
