Boy murders girlfriend in Gamalakhe

On WEDNESDAY 11 November, the roommate of a 20-year-old student went to her room in Gamalakhe where they “group studied” to see if her friend was there. After knocking and getting no answer­, the friend broke the door open and found her friend’s body on the bed with a stab wound to the neck.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said the girl then called the police.

“When the police got to the scene a murder docket was opened and the suspect had fled.” said Wiid. On Thursday 12 November, the mother of the dead girl’s boyfriend took her son to Southport SAPS where he handed himself over. He was charged with murder and appeared in Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Friday, he will appear tomorrow for bail application.
