Calling surfer dudes

THE Tweni Two’s surfing competition for pairs takes place at Umtentweni Beach on June 10 at 7.30am.

The event is a fund-raiser for Ugu Surfing that aims to make it an annual event. Two surfers must enter as a duo and the team will battle it out against another pair in a 20-minute heat.

Winners will surf away with R10 000 - R5 000 each - and a floating trophy. Entry is R250 per surfer which includes the Saturday evening prize-giving dinner and live music.

There will also be lucky draws and a custom-made surfboard will be up for grabs in a raffle.

This will take place at 6.30pm at Champagne Shack at 21 Marine Drive, Umtentweni. Entrance for the public is R100 per person, and children under 13 enter free. A cash bar will be available and meals and cool drinks at cost for the children.

A five-kilometre beach fun run, starting at 10am, from Umtentweni beach will also be held. The first prize is R1 000 plus a trophy, and for U14 winner a R200 first prize.
